christmas is almost here!

I don't know about you, but I'm a sucker for Christmas. It's my favorite time of the year, being the sentimental type that I am. Tonight we're getting our tree -- have you already decorated yet? I can't wait to string up the twinkly lights and put on my Christmas mix! It's a crazy amazing mix of super retro carols and funk from the 70's, hahaha. :)

This morning I had breakfast with my super talented, beautiful sister Zoe. I really miss getting to have good talks with my sisters now that we all live far from eachother. It's so much fun to catch up.
I'm playing a big show this next Tuesday at the Torch Club and I can't wait. It'll be a great way to end the year, being one of my favorite local venues. See you all soon and Merry Christmas! I've put up some little pictures I find inspiring lately for you to look at. :)

I love Amy Borrell's beautiful artwork and I'm into maps and ironic bedding these days, lol. :)

here comes the sun again

Here's a picture from the last show I played at The Naked Lounge. My lives shows have felt more and more like any old circle of friends in one room, and I'm so pleased. I get more and more comfortable each day it seems lately. I've been practicing a lot, but I think all this hope for the future has been influential and inspirational as well. It's nice to have a clear picture of your goal to spur you on when you feel like you can't go another step.

more thanksgiving fun!

Here's a little link to the dance party we had at my parents house this Thanksgiving. Right now I'm at Matt's parents house and we're about to watch Elf, my favorite holiday movie of all time. I just wanted to say hi before we go and spend the rest of the night playing board games. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! :)

Love,
Autumn

thank you

How forteitous that I should start writing here just a few days before Thanksgiving! I do seem to be in an accelerated period of blessing in my life right now. I'm fortunate enough to say that I am surrounded by the truest and dearest friends, that I am in love with a wonderful person, that I am able to do what I love for a job and that my family is just as crazy and awesome as ever.
I'm visiting the family right now, actually. They live in a mountaneous region of Northern California and the weather channel says it's 15 degrees outside! I don't doubt it -- there was ice on my car when we got back from the store this evening. We had a dance party today and it was amazing. Having my mom dance around to a Phoenix song really is the cherry on top of an amazing day.
It's been really nice being here because I really didn't know if I was even going to get to see my family this Thanksgiving. Matt's car broke down a few months ago and we weren't able to pay to get it fixed for awhile and were just using my car. We made it work but obviously going out of town while both of us have work was kind of out of the question. It was hard enough just getting to church sometimes. But luckily, through an act of fate that should've been turned out reeeeaaally badly, it actually saved us and fixed our car.
So...here we are. In a house with some good people, in a good little part of our life. I feel like we're going to look back on this time really fondly. A few weeks away from the beginning stages of my second album and on the heels of a more-successful-than-usual streak of shows, working hard but still having fun, too. I feel very much in my element, and it no longers makes me feel as stressed as it used to. I'm allowing myself to enjoy it and not worry so much, and the freedom of that is very lovely!
I went out with my sisters Zoe, Mirjam and Lydia and their friends Nikki and Mercy today (even though it was SO COLD,) and took some pictures. We have little photo shoots whenever we get together, haha. When it comes down to it, no matter how old we get, as soon as we're in the same room is back to doing eachothers hair and makeup and swapping clothes like old times. I love it.

Love, Autumn
